The Telegram tool lets your AI agent push a message to any Telegram chat, group or channel using a bot you created yourself. Ask your AI to notify you when a long task finishes, when a deploy goes out, or when a monitoring check fails.
There is nothing to configure first: the bot token and the destination chat ID are arguments of the call, so RunTools never stores them and never sees them again once the message is delivered. Create a bot with @BotFather, send /start to it, and you are ready.
Why use Telegram?
What can you do?
Task notifications
Have your AI ping you on Telegram when a long-running job, build, or migration finishes.
Deploy and monitoring alerts
Send alerts to a team group when a deploy ships or a health check starts failing.
Daily digests
Ask your AI to summarize your day, your inbox, or your metrics and drop it into a channel.
Sharing generated output
Combine with other tools: generate a report or a PDF link and send it to the chat that needs it.
How to set up
Create a bot
Message @BotFather on Telegram, send /newbot, and copy the token it returns (it looks like 123456789:AAHk...).
Get the chat ID
Send /start to your new bot, then open https://api.telegram.org/bot<token>/getUpdates and copy chat.id. For a group, add the bot first — group IDs are negative.
Send a message
Ask your AI: "Send a Telegram message to chat 12345678 with bot token ... saying the deploy is done".
